IG Alumni DT Project Created by Joylita D'Souza

For this week’s project at Maymay Made it, I made a Hexagon shaped shaker card using the Bee’s Knees Stamp Set by Maymay Made It and the Double Stitched Hexagon Die Set by Gina Marie.

I started by cutting a piece of Canson Xl paper and Acetate using the largest die from the Double Stitched Hexagon Die Set. Next, I cut the frame by layering the first and second largest die from the same set. Then, I coloured the cardstock panels with a mini ink blending tool using Canary, Marigold and Orange VersaColor Pigment Inks. After that, I used the Chicken wire stencil and dabbed Black Soot Distress Ink on the background panel using a blending tool.

Next, I stamped the bee and the sentiment on a white cardstock using VersaFine Onyx Black Ink. Then, I fussy cut the bee and coloured it with my Zig Markers. For the wings of the bee, however, I used Clear Wink of Stella. After this, I cut the sentiment using a banner die from the Hearts in a Row - Vertical by MFT.

I used a 1/8 inch Scor-Tape to stick the acetate on the frame. Next, I stuck the foam tape on the acetate, filled the panel with sequins and then stuck the background paper on it.

To create the card base, I used the largest die from the Double Stitched Hexagon Die Set and cut an A2 top folding card base, ensuring that the cut line was above the top fold of the card base.

Finally, I stuck the shaker panel on this card base.
